User Rights Policy

Earning Rights

Obtaining User Rights within the BEAR Wiki is restricted to members of the Staff Team. Users who aren't within the Staff Team are typically not going to receive user rights and are strictly handed out when ever deemed necessary. Obtaining rights is mostly from the following reasons:

  • Being a member of the Staff Team.
  • Handing out Rollback permissions for active editors within the wiki.
  • Handing out User Rights to official testers/contributors/developers of Bear for accuracy and correct info of certain articles.
  • Testing certain permissions.

These are the primary ways that User Rights are handed out. Permissions and roles adjustments are only allowed by Bureaucrat+. All promotions are handled by Head of Staff, AuxiIiaryy and the owner, Birmations.

Thread Moderator Rights

The position of Thread Moderator is usually handed out to those who complete Staff Applications for the permissions of Thread Moderators. Thread Moderators are responsible and have jurisdiction over the community section. They're ensured to prevent toxicity, harassment, etc. They have the following rights:

  • Deleting / Undeleting threads.
  • Deleting / Undeleting comments.
  • Editing threads.
  • Editing comments.
  • Locking / Unlocking threads

Content Moderator Rights

The position of Content Moderator is usually handed out to those who complete Staff Applications for the permissions of Content Moderators. Content Moderators are responsible and have jurisdiction over all documented and managed articles. They typically are some of the more active editors on the wiki and correct any errors or other inaccuracies within pages. They are also responsible for ensuring that their is no vandalism or incorrect information placed. They have the following rights:

  • Deleting and moving protected pages.
  • Deleting and moving files.
  • Undeleting pages and files.
  • Editing and moving fully protected pages.
  • Editing and moving protected files.
  • Rollback.
  • Reupload files.
  • Protecting and unprotecting pages.
  • Patrol pages if the community has the RecentChanges Patrol feature enabled.
  • Deleting article comments.

Administrator Rights

  • Blocking and unblocking editors.
  • Editing the wiki's skin and interface elements.
  • Creating announcements.

Bureaucrat Rights

  • Promoting and demoting mods and/or admins.
  • Managing moderators and admins.

Applications

  • When a position is open, users are able to submit an application. These applications will hold a series of short response questions.
  • Applications are only for Thread or Content moderator, rarely is an application for both Thread and Content moderator.

Demotions

  • Breaking the Rules and Guidelines (ex. vandalizing, harassing users, abusing powers).
  • Being inactive for over six months without alerting bureaucrats or administrators.
