Text Structure

Orthography

When writing articles, the orthography that is expected to be used is British English. This is because BEAR was released in the United Kingdom.

Correct Incorrect
1903 is a grey. 1903 is a gray.
BEAR XP was cancelled. BEAR XP was canceled.

Bold

  • Addressing an article's title, for the first time. (If the article is about a game, then the title should also be italic as well.)
  • Addressing the date when an event, skin, kill effect, gear, etc. released, concluded, went unobtainable, was removed, etc.
  • Addressing the price and currency of a skin, kill effect, and gear.
  • Adding a link.

Italics

  • Addressing an article's title, after the first time.
  • When text is being quoted "Example", or is in parenthesis (Example).
  • Addressing a game from BEAR, or another franchise.

Links

Each article should include one link to each article of the wiki. Articles may have the same link appear in infoboxes, etc. However, the link should only appear once within them as well.

Categories

Categories should only be used in articles and not in user articles.

Notice Templates

  • Candidate For Deletion - For articles that go against the Rules and Guidelines.
  • Community Header - For articles that are centered around a community member in BEAR.
  • Completed - For articles that are protected and don't need any further information to be added.
  • Conjecture - For articles that don't have a official name.
  • Controversial - For articles that are centered around a controversial topic in the BEAR community.
  • Event - For articles that are centered around an update that contains limited-time content for BEAR (Alpha) or BEAR*.
  • Exclusive - For articles that are centered around content that is exclusive to an individual or group of people.
  • Lore - For articles that are centered around content that is involved with the lore of BEAR (Alpha) or BEAR*.
  • Non-Canon - For articles that are centered around content that isn't canon to the lore of BEAR (Alpha) or BEAR*.
  • Removed - For articles that are centered around content that has been removed.
  • Stub - For articles that are incomplete and require more information.
  • Unconfirmed - For articles that are centered around content that has yet to be confirmed true.
  • Unobtainable - For articles that are centered around content that is no longer obtainable.
  • Upcoming - For articles that are centered around content that has yet to be released.
  • Update Header - For articles that are centered around an update to BEAR (Alpha) or BEAR*.

Infobox Templates

When importing an infobox into an article, make sure to make the infobox's parameters spread out in order for editors to have an easier time editing the parameters of the infobox.

Third-Person Perspective

Articles should always be written in the third-person, using either player or a playable character (depending on the context). Never use the second-person as it will be referring to the reader of this wiki.

Articles

EraIcons

EraIcons help establish which games the content of the article comes from. There can be more than one EraIcon, as some content can exist through multiple games. Just make sure to list the correct games.

Headers

Headers should always be written in title case. Sentence case and proper case will not be tolerated.

Sub-Pages

If a gallery and audio section have over 25 files, then they will be become a sub-page.

Trivia

Trivia sections in articles should only include the following:

  • Easter eggs.
  • Confirmed inspirations and references to other media.
  • Bugs, glitches, and errors.
  • Concepts, ideas, and older designs.
  • Observations.

Gallery • Audio

  • Official content is tolerated.
  • In-game assets are tolerated.
    • In-game assets that have been tampered with while being uploaded to the wiki is not tolerated.
  • High-quality screenshots for the gallery is tolerated.
  • Fanmade content is not tolerated.
  • Low-quality screenshots are not tolerated.
  • Taking a screenshot (and removing the background) of an image that acts as an in-game asset is not tolerated.
  • Audio that is recorded during gameplay that acts as an in-game asset is not tolerated.
  • For kill effects, gears, and abilities, a showcase of how they function should be added as a GIF in the article's gallery.
