Greenton Asylum is a map that debuts in BEAR*. Greenton Asylum released alongside with the Asylum Update, created by biscuitpuff01 and DaDominator630. Greenton Asylum has a total of 5 puzzles, and 5 gamemodes.

Layout

Greenton Asylum is a psychiatric hospital that was created during the 1500s. It has a lot of hallways and rooms that were meant to contain mentally ill patients. There is a morgue in the center of the map and a cafeteria that has a telephone pole breaking through one of the walls, and a play room to entertain the patients. The survivors spawn inside the West Wing lobby and the bear spawns in the dentist room. The map has a large layout but it is compact; therefore it is easy to get around. There is also one portal making it more convenient to travel across the map. However, it makes a loud noise that can alert other players when used.

Puzzles

  • Wire Puzzle, located inside the dentist room.
  • Cheese Altar, located in the laundry room.
    • The cheese itself is inside the cafeteria.
    • The axe (used to unlock the laundry room) is inside the office.
  • Memory TV, the TV is located in the basement next to the restraintment room exit.
    • The tape itself is located in the entertainment room above the code input area.

Messages

There are various messages scattered around the walls of the asylum:

  • "I WAS HERE XD"
  • "PLEASE TURN BACK"
  • "THERE IS NOTHING FOR YOU HERE"
  • "WHAT MAKES YOU HAVE FUN?"
  • "We are the voices of the fallen. Left to rot and lurk here and never see the light of the day again."
  • "We are trapped with the trauma we've endured here. Can anyone allow us to move on?"
  • "I II III IV V VI VII IX X XI XII XIII XIV XV XVI XVII XVII XIX XX XXI XXII XXIII XXIV XXV"
  • "DO I REALLY DESERVE TO BE HERE?"
  • "No, what I saw was real. Why don't they believe me?"
  • "They were all there, those weird anamorphic creatures. They were there then, but they suddenly disappeared. It just doesn't make sense."
  • "If you have the will, don't say never. Just leave those thoughts."

Trivia

  • The player is located inside the West Wing part of the asylum, as it says "WELCOME TO THE WEST WING" on a wall in the lobby and there are many more locked doors that we can't explore, leading to other places and wings.
    • The only wing that the West one connects to is the North Wing - there's a door saying "TO NORTH WING" in the hall next to cafeteria.
  • This map has a custom Cheese Altar with a small easter egg that makes a sound when you click its nose.
  • In the basement, behind a crate, there is a distorted Teddy Bloxpin that can be picked up by clicking on it - the audio it emits is different and also distorted. This gear is used to complete the Gabriela quest.
  • The survivors used to spawn in the Entertainment Room, but it was later changed to the Attendant Room #1.
    • During the Circus In Town Update, as part of the map's remaster, the spawn location has changed again into a new lobby area.
  • This map had a previous layout that was being built during June of 2022, it was then revised into what was seen before it got changed again in the Circus In Town Update. This is shown on a live stream of creating the map from June 19th.
  • Although an exterior is seen in the map's thumbnail, very little of the exterior is actually made.
  • The restraintment room also contains a vent that can be accessed by climbing on top of a cabinet. This leads to a staircase outside of the cafeteria. It is one-way for survivors and two-way for bear.
  • Observant players will notice that there is aggressive banging on the door behind where the bear spawns.
  • Little known fact that Duckworth, another developer for the bear games, helped model for the map, only two assets in the dentist room, so it was not much.
  • Although its own, the map was partially meant to be a replacement for Unknown Wetlands as it was removed weeks before the release of the Asylum. There are many noticeable inspirations and similarities to the indoor part of Unknown Wetlands.
  • The theme for Greenton Asylum is a very slowed down version of the song Horror Race, which is commonly known as the beast's theme in Flee the Facility.
  • The map is meant to be the BEAR* version of Hospital Nightmare VI, shown by many small references. For example the telephone pole crashing into the dining area and the portals.
